L+R crack detection systems or FPI systems are used for - mostly fluorescent - penetrant testing (PT). They represent an integral part of the quality assurance of aluminum castings and forgings, especially in the area of safety-relevant components.

L+R crack detection systems are specifically adapted to the requirements of the respective test process and test parts. Customer-specific solutions regarding throughput, degree of automation and space are our specialty.

Due to the possibility to select the different process stations on a project-specific basis, L+R offers the optimum solution to their customers for their individual needs.

In order to ensure an optimal testing process for every customer, L+R is working together with well-known partners in the industry. In close cooperation with the customer, test equipment manufacturers and independent consultants, an individual process is designed for each customer with regard to efficiency, process reliability, ergonomics and cost effectiveness.

The process of crack detection using the penetration test method (PT) usually consists of the following process steps:

  • Pre-cleaning with subsequent drying (optional)
  • Penetrate
  • Multi-stage intermediate cleaning
  • Wetting with developer (optional)
  • Desiccation
  • Check
  • Post-cleaning (optional)

L+R offers its customers a loading and unloading concept tailored to the respective application, from manual manual loading and automatic robot handling to integration into fully automated production lines. Part transport through the process can be done both manually and automatically by means of a conveyor system. Normally, L+R uses 'Power & Free' overhead conveyors, accumulation conveyors and roller table systems.

In order to meet the growing demands of our customers in terms of plant efficiency and operating costs, L+R relies on innovative concepts in the field of process stations. For example, L+R has reduced the power consumption of the drying system by around 75% through the use of advanced thermodynamic processes.
